PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Saker Medevarapu - Kelly Creek Flycasters President

Greetings Club Members!

Our meeting at the Quality Inn last month was well received; the meeting was quiet and easy to hear, food was good and it was the first time that everyone was done eating and the meeting was able to start on time!  Judy Smith had some of her precious cookies in the raffle and of course there were steelhead flies too!

Speaking of which, steelhead fishing on the Clearwater, the Grande Ronde, and Snake Rivers has been poor at best!  If anyone asks you where they should go fish tell them that the Deschutes has been RED HOT, if they need directions please tell them where to go and how to get there (joking)!  Seriously though, the rivers have already been very crowded so please remember stream etiquette and bring your own rock to stand on!  It sounds like the Spey Clave on the Clearwater was well attended and that his event gets bigger and bigger each year.  Hopefully the Highway Department (Zach Funkhouser) will not shut him down.  I personally did not attend, it sounded like a great opportunity to stay away from the Clearwater and go fish the Ronde.

The Women’s Class was also very well attended this year and Ginny Foote put some leg work into it this year.  I believe that we had 20 students sign up this year and 18 went on the fishout!  I was great fun and I believe Ginny actually did not fall in this year!  She discovered felted boots apparently; now really Ginny what fun is that?  Fishing was good and I believe most if not all caught fish that weekend.  Thanks to all who helped organize and assist with the class this year.

Remember folks that we are meeting at the Quality Inn again and please bring some flies for the raffle.

See you there!

Saker
